With Christmas coming up – only 17 days left! – the Christmas meal(s) is/are coming closer. People are brainstorming about their Christmas Menu for this year. Some are even already taking care of the groceries, like here in France – they started already a month ago.
For some Christmas 2014 will be the same as every other year, with a menu that looks a lot like last year and the years before. For others it will be more special, other people to celebrate with, another location (like me, in France, without my family, but with a good friend), other factors to think of. Maybe the new girlfriend of your brother is vegetarian. Or you just bought a house and have to keep an eye on your wallet. Maybe your mom started this new diet a month ago and only wants to eat healthy, even on a holiday. Or it could be your husband who got another job and he has to work during the holidays, so there is less time to spend dining.
Creating the perfect Christmas menu is a challenge, that repeats itself each year. Luckily nowadays supermarkets really try to help out, by handing out beautiful booklets with their festive – readymade – products and lots of recipes. You basically just have to mix ‘n match to create your perfect Christmas meal.
I created some Christmas menus for you, a serie of four different themes. Low calorie, budget, vegetarian and quick. If there is another theme you would like to see in my Christmas Menu serie, please let me know and I will see if I can wrap something up for you!
All meals will consist of an entree, appetizer, main course, vegetable and dessert. You could always leave out one of the courses you don’t really like and change it for something you do like. Maybe a dish that is just indispensable when celebrating a holiday with your family.
So, as I already mentioned I am not going to celebrate with family, but with a friend. I will only have two days off, too little time to travel to the Netherlands. Fortunately one of my friends in Grenoble didn’t have plans neither, so I will go to visit him and spend my holidays watching movies, having good conversations and cooking of course. My friend is even more passionate about cooking than I am an I’ve learned some great Indian recipes from him. I just LOVE his food! I will share them one day with you.
But first, I will share the first menu of the serie, with low calorie courses. Stay tuned! It will be online tomorrow.
