Last weekend was the first time back in France, since we have quit our jobs one year ago and left our lives there behind us.
It was very nostalgic to be back in France.
We even wasted two hours in the supermarket, soaking up the good memories of apéros, (dinner) parties, quick and hasty lunches and much more. While we only went for bread and cheese. New for both of us was the baby department, which was huge compared to the supermarkets in the Netherlands, so we bought a few things to try at home.
Of course we didn’t go for the supermarket – would be a good idea though, I think we would enjoy a special supermarket trip .
Our destinations were the Christmas markets in Strasbourg and Nancy.
Strasbourg
In Strasbourg you can find the biggest Christmas market of France, together with the beautiful city we were sure our little getaway couldn’t fail. It was freezing, but we had fun – and le vin chaud definitely helped us to warm up.
Sophia also had fun, she refused to lay down in her pram, so we had to carry her around. This was not ideal, because there were many people. And not everybody looks where they walk. In the end we just sat her straight, so she could look around her. She enjoyed all the beautiful lights, music and everything that was happening in her surroundings. The cold didn’t seem to bother her at all – even though she would have loved to take a sip from our wines. She slept very good at night either way.
Nancy
On Sunday we wanted to see the Christmas market and Saint Nicolas market in Nancy. This was totally different from what we’ve seen in Strasbourg. To be honest, it was not that entertaining. Nancy itself was very beautiful though.
But so cold! This time Sophia’s little cheeks got a bit red, but our little one doesn’t show any signs of bothering.
We enjoyed ourselves a lot and we wanted to share a few pictures with you!
Next week we will go to Germany, to compare the Christmas spirit with what we’ve seen in France.
