We’ve passed yet another week. Only less than 11 weeks left now – whut?!
I’ve stayed in and rested a lot the last week, since I still struggle a bit with the throat infection. My brother is reconstructing his kitchen, so Luis spend a lot of time at his place helping him out. Giving me more time to rest and read or something else that doesn’t require a lot of energy.
Let’s cook!
On Wednesday we went to a cooking workshop. My mom had bought vouchers and wanted us to have a nice evening out together. Poor Luis had to spend the evening with 11 women in the kitchen, but fortunately he survived. Because he is still learning Dutch, we got to make our recipes together. A chocolate mousse with Licor 43 and a tomato salad. It was a lot of fun preparing the dishes together.
Meanwhile the kitchen filled up with the great smell of all the other small platters that got prepared by the other ladies. When we finished the mousse, we were invited to the table to try out all the starters.
The workshop had a Spanish theme, so it were mostly tapas dishes. For starters we had bruschetta, hamburgers with a cherry tomato and mozzarella, tomato soup with homemade pesto and cream and bread with cheese and heaps of garlic. The atmosphere was very relaxed and accompanied by a few beverages the craziest stories were told.
After the first round there were still some dishes that got to be finished, so we went back to cooking. For the next round we got to prepare albondigas, patatas bravas, crispy chicken, courgette pizza’s and filled mushrooms. As cherry on the cake we got served out chocolate mousse. Unfortunately I couldn’t eat it, since it was prepared with raw egg whites. I still tried a little bit and got to say, it was delicious. At the end of the evening we were stuffed!
Hey, spring!
On Friday we went to see an apartment and afterwards went to show my baby belly to my grandmother. It is growing incredibly quick at this moment! I grew out of all of my winter coats, so it’s very important to me that the days get warmer. Good thing they expect good weather in The Netherlands, so let’s hope spring will do it’s thing and help me out with my clothing problem.
Also the movements start to become more and more visible from the outside. It’s so weird to see something moving around inside of your belly. But it’s wonderful knowing it is our baby girl exploring and preparing herself for the outside world.
The night after I had the strangest dream, my grandmother who has passed away was drinking coffee with my other granny. She wanted to see my baby belly and told me that in heaven everybody was talking about my pregnancy and baby. It felt so real! Incredible.
In the meantime my mom went on a shopping spree on an online second hand website. In just one week we collected a play pen, two baby bouncers, a changing mat, maxicosi and a playmat. My aunt will bring our old crib and changing table with her when she is visiting from France. We could say we are almost complete!
Every week we get closer to the due date, I get more nervous. It’s almost unbelievable that in less than three months we will have our baby girl amongst us. Of course we are also looking forward to meet her! For now we will keep on enjoying the little baby kicks, the amazing belly and the preparation. For the next 10 weeks and 5 days, wow!
