“I have to tell you something,” said Luis. He looked serious. I started feeling warm. My heartbeat accelerated. What would it be? Was he going to break up with me? But why would he have invited me over to a bar, just to break up? It didn’t make sense.
With my voice full of doubt, I responded: “What’s up?”
I wasn’t sure I was going to like what would come next, but I had to know anyway. He looked me in the eye, fearful of my reaction.
“I took a decision. I’m going to leave. I’m going back to Mexico.”
I felt a relief. That wasn’t that bad! We would find a solution.
At the same moment, I boarded a rollercoaster of thoughts and emotions.. I told him I didn’t want him to go, until I realized I fully understood his desire to leave France. We both had enough of the country. France brought us a lot of good things. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves, about life. But we both knew there was so much more out there. All doubt disappeared.
And I told him I would go with him.
He didn’t believe me at first. He thought I was making a joke. I wasn’t. I was dead serious. He told me I needed more time to think things through. I would need to prepare myself, have a plan.
He didn’t know in that short moment, I already had my plan sorted. It seemed bulletproof. It wasn’t, as something unexpected came up. Apart from that, I still believe it was a great plan. We would try, we would see it for ourselves. Why spend ages preparing and planning, if you’ll never know until you’re there?
change your life forever
This evening in an Irish pub in Vieux Lyon changed my life forever. My life changed right after Luis said “I have to tell you something.” I didn’t know it back then, but it was the first step into the creation of my dream life.
One of the biggest pillars of the definition of my dream life is being able to go and move whenever I desire to do so.
In the story I told above, this is exactly what I did. The only thing you need, is to be convinced of your plan. The how will come later. My desire, my inner voice, told me that night that I needed this new adventure.
Everything starts and ends with your inner voice. Give it a stage. Let it sing. Let it show you what you truly want in life. And you’ll always find a way to make it possible.
