How much time did you spend on your smartphone today? I bet more than you think.
Since we all have smartphones, we tend to spend more and more time checking social media, the internet and using our apps. As you can see in the table, in 2014 Americans have spend an average of 177 minutes looking at their mobile device. That’s 2 hours and 57 minutes people, almost 3 hours!
Three hours of our precious time. Do you have any idea of what you can do in that three hours? I’ll show you some things.
- Do groceries and wrap up a delicous meal for your family, eat it AND do the dishes.
- Go to the gym, workout, get back home, have your post-workout meal, a long shower and a nap.
- Fly from the Netherlands to Spain.
- Cross the whole Netherlands by train.
- Read a book, depending on how fast you read.
- Spend a LOT of work and energy in your business.
[space height=”20″]We have to wake up people. We are wasting our time!
Apart from that it is probably very unhealthy, it is such a shame that our days fly by looking at the screen of your smartphone. Your life could be worth so much more. You could be so much more productive. You could actually work for your dream. In three hours a day, your dream will come true in no time!
I have to admit, I’m doing the same. I have a lot of evening shifts and sometimes I don’t even manage to do more than showering, preparing lunch and dinner and have a quick lunch before going to work – regardless of at what time I wake up. You can guess why now. Because I am checking out my mobile phone all of the time!
I noticed the last day shifts, that when I leave my mobile phone in my room, I can manage to take a shower – even longer than planned – have breakfast, prepare my lunch salad, get dressed, do my hair and make-up. In 45 minutes. It actually really surprised me.
On evening shift days, I do almost the same thing, but then it takes me 4 hours – and I still have to hurry to work!
From now on I will leave my phone alone a lot more often and be one of those people not hitting the American average. Maybe you should too?
